Definitely a YA novel - and not in a bad way. Ash is a re-telling of the Cinderalla fairy tale. Not quite as dark as the original Grimm version, but grittier than the Disney one. The author adds her own mark to the tale and does an excellent job in capturing the essence of Cinderlla with enough original spins to make it a book I didn't want to put down. There are fairies in this book - who aren't necessarily nice or altruistic - and they add a sinister atmosphere. The fairy godmother becomes a m

An amazing Cinderella story with dark fairy lore weaved in. The fairies in this book are not like the ones in the Disney movie! Aisling, the main character, meets a fairy man in the woods and becomes obsessed with the idea of him taking her away to live with fairies and never return to humanity. He meets with her, but will not take her away until she is older. Things become complicated for Aisling when she meets and starts to fall for the King's Huntress.

Is about a young girl whose mother has died, her father remarries, her stepmother has two daughters, her father dies and her stepmother makes her a servant.
Yes, this is Cinderella, but with some major interesting twists. Ash dances with the Prince at a ball but it’s the King’s Huntress Kaisa who she really wants. And in turn, she is wanted by the fairy Sidhean. Ash is consumed by grief, fed on fairy tales, cloaked in loneliness, solitude and death.

Retelling of Cinderella with a twist. Ash is not interested in the prince but there is a scary/enticing male fair folk but is even more interested in the king's huntress.

This is an alternate Cinderella story where Cinderella (Ash) has aspirations of being free to pursue her own interests rather than joining herself to a royal family. To be sure, there is a prince, wicked stepmother, and stepsisters, but there is also a mysterious huntress and temptations from fairies which occupy Ash's time. It was an interesting book and fun to see the alternate imagianings of the author, but didn't really grab me.

An interesting, eminently readable reinterpretation of Cinderella. The book itself is absolutely beautiful as an object (the chapter headings are all modeled on illuminated manuscript letters) and the story is engaging. The sundry plot threads don't quite come together at the end but the journey is worth taking.
