I had always wanted to read this and it took me a long time to get around to it....
It was such a treat to come upon a familiar quote by the author that I had seen many years before in the Sun Magazine in the midst of the book!
It had made such an impression on me, but I did not know it's origin (only the author), and I had highlighted it and read it to several friends.

This book started out very slow for me. I didn't like the narration style at first. Then suddenly, I was riveted to this book and I couldn't put it down. By the end of the book I felt like I hadn't just read about Cal but had become friends with him and like any friendship it had started slow, feeling out the other's various proclivities and by the time this book was over I felt like Cal and I were old friends who had taken a remarkable journey together that I didn't want to end but sadly the bo
