World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) in Penryn and the End of Days Re-Read

I started the "Angelfall" a few days ago, finished it a day after. The "World After" is devoured in about the same time. Lucky me, I had some free time last few days. I made it if I didn't have it. I could have been doing a lot of useful things. Like... painting, designing... washing the dishes... You know, useful stuff. Instead, I've read for few hours a day more than was granted. Well damn, you know how that feels! Cause I just NEEDED to know what happens next! I'm not sure if it's the book or I started the "Angelfall" a few days ago, finished it a day after. Cause I just NEEDED to know what happens next! I'm not sure if it's the book or me who's to be blamed. I just may be a little bit troubled. But most likely the book's very good, too :)

I was happy to read the first two book it this series now, 'cause the third one is out in only 3 weeks. I'm in a really bad case of abstinence right now. If I had to wait for a year or more... Well, let's just say that I'd be very... very upset. Good thing I only have 3 weeks of craziness to endure.

I hope you don't mind me using Goodreads as a personal shrink. I do need to let those things out every once in a while. And now that I've done that, let's talk about this book.

It is somewhat slower than "Angelfall". Raffe's not to be seen (Okay, not counting that one sighting...)in the first two thirds of the book. Penryn's on her own and the troubled, anguished state she and the world around her are in is engulfing and overwhelming. I liked that. As I said in the "Angelfall's" review, I like it dark, troubled, anguished. I'm not sure what it speaks of me, but let's not get back to me. Anyway, she does some pretty amazing things, even too amazing for my liking. But again, I have to remind my self that this is fiction, and not everything has to follow what I think is possible. Like... angels falling from heaven and causing the apocalypse is quite possible, but a 17 year old girl has no way of knowing how to fight. Duh. Hellooo, she trained all kinds of martial arts, has taken loads of self-defence courses. That makes superheroes, doesn't it? Oh, sure, and loads of attitude. Yeah... I like Penryn. If only she was a bit older.

There are few mistakes, shall we call them that, but nothing major. One of them that I remembered is that tracking device Penryn's mom has... just how long can it stay powered? How strong are those batteries? I'd like one pack, thank you!

Sooooo... now what? How many more days? 20? Shit.

This book was great. Even though Penryn and Raffe were apart most of it. I am so ready for the third book. Her mom is one of my favorite characters. I read a library copy and so want to get my very own copy.
