Había leído Angelfall, y la verdad es que no me había gustado mucho. Ni siquiera puedo decir por qué. Sin embargo este libro me gustó TANTO que definitivamente voy a darle una nueva oportunidad al primero.

World After comienza a penas termina el libro anterior. Penryn nos muestra cómo se encuentra la Resistencia luego del ataque al nido, y su reticencia a aceptarlas tanto a ella como a su hermana de regreso. La gente las ve como algo raro y demoníaco. Paige por un lado sigue siendo la nena que su Había leído Angelfall, y la verdad es que no me había gustado mucho. Ni siquiera puedo decir por qué. Penryn nos muestra cómo se encuentra la Resistencia luego del ataque al nido, y su reticencia a aceptarlas tanto a ella como a su hermana de regreso. La gente las ve como algo raro y demoníaco. Paige por un lado sigue siendo la nena que su hermana recuerda, pero al mismo tiempo la han convertido en un arma que ella desconoce. La madre continúa siendo tan desquiciada como siempre sin embargo, dentro de esa locura en la que se encuentra inmersa, consigue cuidar de sus hijas y preocuparse por ellas. Cuando quiere es muy ruin y cruel con Penryn. Dice cosas hirientes que no tiene necesidad de decir. Hay algunos personas del libro anterior que tienen cierta participación en este libro, que son geniales. Dee & Dum son dos personajes entrañables. Aparecen otros, como Clara, que se convierten en esa clase de personajes que uno admira por sobre todas las cosas. También están aquellos que no podemos evitar odiar. Beliel, Quemado, Uriel... todos ellos me provocan tanta repugnancia. Son motivados por la ambición y el deseo de poder.
Y entonces están los malditos escorpiones. ¡Por dios! Creo que no hay nada más asqueroso y aterrador que esos condenados seres del infierno. Sí, literalmente.

En este libro podemos ver mucho más de las habilidades de Penryn, obviamente. Me gusta su personalidad. Es decidida y tiene mucha fortaleza. Sin duda alguna es un personaje admirable. Se ha puesto su familia al hombro, ha cuidado tanto de su madre como de su hermana sin siquiera pestañear, e incluso se tomó el trabajo de rescatarla. Es una chica de diecisiete años con una vida dura y complicada. De una forma un tanto rara, también vemos más sobre Raffe: sus pensamientos y emociones, su pasado y demás. Fue MUY lindo eso. Me encantó. Le dio al libro un toque distinto.

Las escenas entre ellos dos, Raffe y Penryn, fueron geniales. Ella no es la típica damisela en peligro que el héroe debe rescatar. Por el contrario, es una chica fuerte que puede valerse por sí misma. Es valiente y capaz de hacer cualquier cosa por los que ama. Y Raffe... bueno, es Raffe. Arrogante, frío por momentos, indescifrable. Sin embargo hay algo entre ellos que no te deja quitarles los ojos de encima. Se siente la tensión en el ambiente cuando ambos están en escena. Esa cosa química y física que llena el aire. Me reí muchísimo con los dos porque son personajes divertidos y agradables.

El final me encantó. Las últimas frases, los acontecimientos, lo que ocurre con algunos personajes... en fin. MARAVILLOSO. Me dejó deseando tener el tercero YA en mis manos. Lamentablemente no se puede. Habrá que esperar. Léanlo. En lo personal me fascinó. ...more

A lot of people say this book isn't as good as the first instalment in the End of Days trilogy, Angelfall. I can honestly say I love this book just as much as the first one.
It is a real shame that Raffe is only present for the last third/quarter of the book, however it still doesn't feel like he's absent from the story, what with Penryn being able to connect with him through Pooky Bear.

To be honest, I like this one better than AngelFall. Aside from the fact that it started where it carted off, it answered most of the confusion I had from the first book, but I must admit not everything. Yeah. Most of them. I love the fact that the series had progressed to something less puzzling and I didn’t even have to recall Angelfall since this book summed it up.

So good guys, so so good. At first I really wasn't happy with this book because Raffe didn't appear except for memories of the sword and stuff, and it kinda frustrated me because of that. But I got through that because I just love Penryn so much, she's awesome. If I had to rate the part of the book that Raffe doesn't appear I would give it 3.5 stars I think, but believe when I say that when he shows up everything's worth it and it gets a full 5 stars without a doubt.
