This book starts exactly where Angelfall left off. Penryn is reunited with her mom and Paige and they are with the resistance now, even though everything is awkward and tense when you are in a confined space with a crazy woman, a stitched up look alike doll girl and a dead teenager.

How painful it is not to have Raffe until the last few pages.
How ridiculous is that moment when Raffe found out about Pooky Bear.

Susan Ee did not disappoint me in World After, if anything Penryn and Raffe made me laugh and love them even more so in this book. Penryn is still as tough as ever, and her wits are as sharp as the sword that she carries. And I like how Penryn isn't perfect, she has trouble accepting her new baby sister just like all the other people do when they see what she has become. I think this makes Penryn more relateable and gives her character more dimensions.
