The first thing to note about Snow Crash is that it was published in 1992. So what, right? Well, back in the ‘olden’ days, we didn’t yet have The Matrix, we didn’t have Second Life, Idiocracy and The Borg and Total Recall had only just made an appearance. Snow Crash is a bold pre-runner to all of these and as such is reminiscent of Jules Verne, who also painted bold new worlds of air and underwater travel at a time when it was barely conceivable. Shelves: science-fiction, favorite, more-please

I read this a couple of years ago after spending years not reading it. Yep. It was on my TBR list forever and when I finally read it I was irritated it took me so long to get to it because I love it so much and then strangely happy that I waited so long for it because I could bask in my enjoyment with fuller appreciation (I suppose?).
I am beyond lazy when it comes to writing reviews but I had to say that this book contains one of the best little descriptions of what it feels to be multicultural ...more

At the time this book was published I read it and I remember loving it. On a reread now though, I have problems with the dated technology. Also, the plot doesn't catch me.

I still love the opening pizza delivery scene however. Just that section is definitely 5 stars. ...more
