My daughter and I finished this in two days. Basically because she didn't want to do anything else but read the next chapter. She has never seen the Judy Garland movie but has seen some tv shows renditions (Minnie Mouse, Fresh Beat Band) so she has wanted to know what the true story was like. I was a little wary if she'd like it, but as with Little House in the Big Woods she was enthralled, maybe more so because she was aware of parts of the story already. It's been a long time since I first read this story and how much I had forgotten! After reading Wicked The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West and seen the musical, I can see how both have taken so much from the original story (and thankfully not the horrible original movie version). If you'd never had the chance to read this book, I highly recommend it. Even if you hated the movie, this one is sure to delight.
