A dear old favourite I love returning to again and again. The characters are compelling enough and the story sweet and full of heart so that I never tire of this. However, I can't help that the preachy tone of the book sometimes gets on my nerves, even if I know it comes from the time it was written. That's why I can no longer give it a full five stars despite my love for it, because too many paragraphs and chapters feel like they were written only to give young ladies some lessons on how to liv ...more
