What to say about this book....
First, I must say, it was PERFECTION. Complete and utter perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the very beginning until the very last page. The pictures in this book gave the story such a real feel. I'm so sad that it is now over, but I cannot wait for Hollow City. It will most certainly be the next book that I buy.

It was very slow for a while. I did not become really interested in it until page 127. Though, it did pick up pretty fast after that. I grew more and more interested as I flew through the pages. By the end, I was engrossed. Big cliffhanger ending, as I had been expecting. I'm glad that I pushed myself through this book, because if I hadn't, I honestly would have put it down and never pick it up again. ...more

I think my expectations for this book may have been a bit unrealistic. The whole idea of it having creepy pictures is what really motivated me into reading this in the first place. However, even though I found the pictures to be extremely interesting, there was only a couple dozen which came in lots of 3s or 4s sporadically throughout the book - and less so in the end.

Going into this I didn't actually know what this was about. It took me about 100 pages to get into and I thought I just wasn't in the mood for reading this but then - I just couldn't put in down. It's a fantastic book and I also just love the design!

3.75 stars - I really, really liked the idea behind this book with the peculiar children and the photos and everything, but I didn't love all of the wight and hollows business, I thought it could have been done differently. I also didn't like the Emma-Jacob relationship, it was just weird. but overall, really cool book!

What a creative way to incorporate old photos into a storyline. I really enjoyed seeing all of the characters portrayed in the photos, and how real it all seemed. Ransom is an action-packed writer, and I'm really looking forward to reading the next book!
