What can I say? I'm a sucker for a good fantasy read! This book takes place in a renaissance-ish type of time period. There are kings, queens, knights, guards, and, of course, assassins! This book has actually lived up to the hype I've been hearing on Youtube and Facebook. I was aimlessly and undoubtedly in love with this book! This book was honestly bombarding me with unwanted emotions and feelings. I mean da feels though. I was literally all over the place.

Let's talk about the characters: Sarah J. Maas probably establishes the best character development I have ever seen in a book. Her characters are surprisingly so real and at times, I could swear that Celaena was just my best friend at school. That's one thing I look forward to reading about in the rest of this series. Her male characters were even more phenomenal! At first I was leaning towards Dorian as my preferred swoon, but as I read the end I was so looking forward to the relationship of Celaena and Chaol in books two and three. You really sort of feel connected with all the male characters in the book, and it's kind of like you're the one falling in love. Gosh, constant rants of a teenage fangirl :P

So we enter the world of Celaena Sardothien, a captured criminal of Endovier who is now just about willing to do anything to gain her freedom, even if it means competing in the King's competition to find a new champion. Celaena doesn't really know what she's getting herself into, but she's about to find out. With the help of the crowned prince, Dorian and the Captain of the Guard, Chaol, she might just be able to make it out alive and perhaps fall in love.

If you love assassins, fairies, and dark magic, you'll definitely enjoy reading this book. I really enjoyed how the author gave so much power to Celaena and portrayed her as an assassin, as we don't see much of that these days. She had the perfect amount of spunk and that sassy attitude that didn't make her too annoying. If you guys have ever read The Mara Dyer series, she was somewhat comparable to Mara.

If I'm not mistaken, this book was based entirely upon Maas' own world, as in she built the world herself in the story from beginning to end. The plot line was consistent, ya know? Like we didn't just have random assassins dropping like flies, leading us up to the final two competitors who would duel to be the King's Champion.

A perfect fantasy read to consume your time during any break or weekend! I mean, every time I put the book down to eat or sleep I was desperate to pick it back up! I will definitely be back for another review on the second book, which I've heard is far more action-packed and interesting. And I feel like Maas' writing is more sophisticated than most of the authors on the market. It's unique, and I guess you could say that it better appeals to a YA fangirl's nature.

I LOVED THIS! I'm so glad I finally picked this up (due to the soon release of QoS) (though I won't be caught up till then sadly). The world of Throne of Glass is amazingly build. I LOVED THIS! I'm so glad I finally picked this up (due to the soon release of QoS) (though I won't be caught up till then sadly). The world of Throne of Glass is amazingly build. Not only is the world very layered but the characters as well. What really intrigued me is how you feel like you got to know the characters but really don't know much about their backstory, so that's still all a mystery. I loved how badass Celaena was. She was very sure of herself (which sometimes tended to come off as arrogant but that didn't really bother me) and she was the kickass heroine I've been looking for. I loved to read about her fighting, I especially thought the final duel was very well written, it really gripped me. I also liked how while being a strong fighter she sill enjoyed simple things just as book and loved dresses. The entire mystery in this book was very intriguing, I was always guessing and on the edge of my seat. Now onto the other characters though. I really loved Dorian, I thought he was a cutie. It's interesting to see how different he is to his father and I loved getting to know him (I love princes okay) but I thought his character sometimes felt like it was designed to be loved and that his actions were too predictable. It didn't make me love him any less though. Chaol however is definitely my favorite out of the two. I really enjoyed how he and Celaena kind of have a really slow build up and I really hope it pays out. You never got to see much of what goes on inside Chaol and that really made me curious. (In that sense, I'm team Chaolaena all the way). Lastly I want to talk about Nehemia, who was just the best surprise of this book. Not only did she play them all with the language but she's also a badass magic wielder. She and Celaena have a great dynamic as well. I'm really looking forward to more Nehemia in the next books (hopefully). I thought Kaltain was a really annoying bratty character and I don't like the fact that she'll probably be back at all. Needless to say the King of Adarlan and the duke were my least favorite characters. Or well, they weren't favorite at all.
I'm very excited to get started on Crown of Midnight right now and to continue on with Sarah J. Maas' amazing writing style and world. ...more

How has it has taken me this long to read it?! I can’t believe i have gone this long without getting spoiled!!!

I had no idea at all what it was about besides the involvement of assassins and that it was fantasy but that was all i knew! and it surprised me with what it was actually about. i enjoyed this very much and can’t wait to continue with the series. i forgot about the assassins blade but i read that it’s recommended to be read either before throne of glass or after crown of midnight so i How has it has taken me this long to read it?! I can’t believe i have gone this long without getting spoiled!!!

Overall i loved the plot even though it was nothing like what i expected. i was immersed into the world quickly and all the fantastical elements were great and i’m excited for the other books to expand on the fae and other components such as this. the kingdom and its history intrigued me greatly and this was one of my favourite aspects.

i realised almost immediately that i was going to become obsessed with the characters. although i found Celaena annoying and a bit up herself at times i overall enjoyed her character and her banter with others. I especially enjoyed her friendship with Nehemia and obviously the relationships with Dorian and Chaol however i have no idea what is to become of this because i have heard some things about the love interests and it’s not what i was anticipating.

The ending is what threw me off a bit as it was not at all where i predicted the plot to go - in my opinion it was almost anticlimactic for me but still i’m not sure entirely how i feel about it. i think i just got a taste of what could happen and i wanted to more. i have really high expectations for the next books as i have seen the ratings grow as the series progresses.

Sarah J. Maas’ writing was alright for me. i know it was her first and this was a pretty good start and as i said before it can only get better so i can’t wait! i did have few problems with the repetition of certain phrases and lots of explanation marks and Chaol often growled which i found so odd 😂

I gave it 4 stars as i thoroughly enjoyed it. the ending is the only thing that puts me off giving it 5 stars but that’s just because i wanted MORE!!! ...more

I loved the whole new world, that I was thrown into! The whole setting is very interesting and an excellent read. Also the details that I was given really did help me fully illustrate this new...land. Plus having a map in the book was cool, I couldn't stop looking at it. #Celaena&Dorian ...more
