I'll give it 4.5 stars. It had me gripped from beginning to end and also quite surprised that I was liking it so much. I'm very glad I decided to give it a chance before heading for the cinema. Unbelievable tale about the indomitable human spirit, and as Drew Goddard planned in his script, a love letter to science. Absolutely amazing. The movie was good and the book was great! Another review says Watneys log entries sound like a nerds blog.. He was a nerd and essentially it was his blog. I loved it. The book is funny, serious, complicated and great.
I loved reading this book. It actually made me tear up, more than once. It's a gripping story. I can't wait to see the movie.

This is a great must read for fans of space travel stories. Much better than the movie. I look forward to Weir's next books.
