Another hard one to rate. I didn't like the first third of the book in part because I was listening to the audio version and thought the narrator was totally wrong for the character and the story. When I switched over to the print version I read the last 150 pages in almost one sitting. So, it definitely held my attention. But I definitely didn't like it anywhere near the way I liked Hunger Games. Although I did like it better than across the universe. I just didn't buy in to this dystopia. It s ...more

Estes rapazes vivem

I can't say that I hated this, but it wasn't captivating. The plot was alright. Slow to start, and then the end was suspenseful. I only really cared for one character, but I think that was only due to my sentimental side. ...more

Very slow start and an ending to set up the next book. Am curious to see how they do the movie as it seems a little Stephen King to me, meaning parts would be better in my imagination than seen.

What I Liked: I can totally see why this book was so popular when it came out. It’s action-packed and the situation with the maze creates a fascinating puzzle. It was a fun read-I really regret that it took me ten years to actually give it a chance. That said, it’s pretty typical of middle grade/young adult dystopian books that were coming out at the time.

What I Didn’t Like: The ending annoyed me a little. I think it could have been written in a way that made it feel more complete rather than re

Suspenseful, modern-day Lord of the Flies with a hero who's just too straight and predictable to be really likable. The world that Dashner created was fantastic, and I'll read the next book, but the hero, Thomas, is the least interesting character in the book. He's a solid narrator, but the author spends too much time putting on paper Thomas's inner dialogue, which isn't at all illuminating and detracts from the fast-paced action of the story. ...more

This book was very suspenseful and seeded some very interesting ideas that will hopefully pan out in the sequels. Reading some other reviews, I saw that people were annoyed by the lack of information and there is a definite "huh?" quality as you read it. However, I found that to perfectly reinforce the main characters confusion/ memory loss and served to heighten the suspense. ...more
