It started just any other young-adult book. I felt I was reading Percy Jackson combined with Hunger Games. Towards the end I started liking it more. It's not an ordinary young-adult book, it was more af an adult contemporary. I liked the way the story went. This is a good coming-of-age story. Everybody will like Tris. She's brave, selfless, smart. She's divergent. I recommend this to everybody. ...more

I'm very new to the whole YA dystopian genre...I don't like science fiction generally...so this is a genre to which the Seasonal Reading Challenge has introduced me. The Hunger Games and Catching Fire have been on my to-read list for a while, and fit other tasks in the challenge, so I read them first. I also needed another dystopian novel for a different task, so I read Delirium, and liked that one a lot. After reading this book I felt like ehh, another typical dystopian. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it but I think I need to start a new genre. Although I'm ready for Insurgent and if you go to Roth's goodreads page you will find an in between book in Four's perspective. ...more

This is easily one of the best books I have ever read. The action was non stop, and the whole process of becoming another Faction was interesting. Veronica Roth totally broke my heart with her writing, and uplifted it as well. I can't wait to start Insurgent. ...more
