I thought that Divergent was hard to put down, and it was a quick and action-packed read. However, the more I think about the book now that I've finished it, the more I feel like the whole premise is on shaky ground. Why have a Dauntless faction if all of the factions are theoretically at peace with one another? I read this because I bought the Kindle complication years ago and am waiting for a book to become available at my library.
I felt like the protagonist's thought process was jumbled, and the narration was halting, difficult to follow. I kept reminding myself that this novel is YA and a freshman effort by a young author, but I don't see it has a big enough excuse for that mess of a narrative.
All that being said, I digress to the fact that I doubt I could have written something better at 23. I'm ho ...more
