Well, that was fun. This series is off to a strong start with amusing dialogue, interesting characters, and a unique main character. Although this volume is mostly an origin story, it isn't like every other superhero you've seen before, and it has a good message (especially for younger readers).

Don't worry if you know nothing about the Marvel comics universe, it isn't really necessary to enjoy the story. But be warned, this first volume will not answer all of your questions. It doesn't even real ...more

So I will admit I’ve not read a lot of comics before but I’m trying to change that. I did enjoy this one though.
Kamala is likeable, down to earth and a funny character. The book looks at Kamala trying to find a balance in life between being the person her family want her to be and the person that with the help of her friends and her new superpowers she is slowly becoming.
