A book for young girls about religion, decisions, puberty, friendship, family, and more. Definitely a book for those girl close to puberty or just there with all the drama and emotions and confusion this time can bring.

This story still holds up. It had been years since I'd read any Judy Blume, and I really didn't remember the details of this story. I don't remember being quite as concerned with growing up as Margaret is in this story, and this time around I'm sure I sympathized more with her teacher, nervously beginning his career.
I read this for PopSugar challenge: a banned book. (I just don't really understand what the objection is to this book.) ...more

I read this as a teen simply because it was controversial. I really didn't enjoy the story. Couldn't relate.

I should have read this twenty years ago, but unfortunately did not until now. Margaret is almost twelve, has to move to New Jersey, and is trying to figure out religion and puberty at the same time. Great book about growing up and all it entails. It really brought me back to those pre-teen years. Great job, Judy Blume.
