Well this was a heck of a lot better than Dark Flame; let me just start out by saying that. Nothing could trump the utter stupidity - which I realized is a major theme of this whole series - of that book. Don't get me wrong, this one had its moments. I feel like the author assumes every teenager is as stupid as Ever is. But I didn't have high expectations for this one and was actually blown away by how decent it was... Maybe that's why it got 4 stars instead of 3...

Hmm so again I waited to long to review a book and have forgotten most of it... I should really take notes or something! Anyways, I'll write down what I do remember:

Obviously, this is another installment where they get close-but-no-cigar to the antidote that'll let the couple touch each other again. Surprised? You shouldn't be if you've been reading this series since the beginning. I'm glad the next book is the last because honestly the whole thing has been dragged out too long. But like I said, this book is much better than Dark Flame. One thing I think is funny is that they have no idea if Roman, now dead and unable to answer these questions, is just yanking their chain. Those Brits and their humor. Maybe they can touch each other (although it's not like they can really test it out) and this whole thing was a waste of time. I can honestly see Roman doing that. Okay, enough musing.

It was good to learn more about Damen and Ever's past, especially the parts that Damen would edit or whole lives that he wouldn't let her see. I think it was stupid that he didn't think she could handle the truth. That she'd love him less or something. You'd think after hundreds of decades that he'd learned a little by now, but I guess not. Wishful thinking? Probably.

**SPOILERS!!**
So... what Jude is out of the picture now? He's just accepting defeat? I refuse to believe it. That's bull that he just wants her to be happy. He wants her to be happy, but with him, not Damen! No guy is that self-sacrificing. It's just fact. Although I know this IS fiction, it needs to be somewhat realistic. He's cooking up something I just know it. Something that'll be his last push to get Ever to want him. We all know it'll never happen with her and Jude, but I think that would make the last book interesting, rather than him just lying down and taking it.

Ah, Haven. You stupid bitc*. Was she on like constant PMS or something? She was absolutely obsessed with destroying Ever. I actually felt kind of bad for her. She was just on a downward spiral with no one there to help her through it. Actually there were people there to help her through it, but they were the people she wanted to kill so you can see where that's a problem. I honestly wasn't sad at all when she died. It just sucks that Ever had to kill her best friend. Not that she was much of anything when she was finally obliterated.

Side note: I'm glad Miles knows about Ever, or knows the gist of it. Now she has someone else close to her that knows. She could never tell Sabine and Jude is... well Jude is Jude and he already knows and wants no part of it, and so it made ME feel better that Miles is finally is in the know.
