(That can be a bit uncomfortable but totally worth it.) I might write more when I sort out my thoughts after this hell of a ride.

I applaud Sarah for the amazing character development of Celaena/Aelin. The difference between those two women is remarkable.

This book.....probably one of the best books I've read yet! Everything was absolutely great and the fight scenes were phenomenal and CRAZY *cough cough* Manon and Aelin! 5 stars and if there were 10...15...20 stars I would give it to this wonderful piece of literature ...more

Holy fucking hell on a tricycle. Jesus on a speed boat. What is this...what is this...what are these things I am feeling?

I'm not certain how many times I cried whilst reading this, but it DESTROYED my HEART, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, in a REALLY GOOD WAY. loved it, best one so far :) took me so long bc i didnt read much when i was in vacations.i cant even remember when i started it, but probably in end august, but last week started school again and i have been reading a lot (in class) . the plot twists, so complex this book, the plans.. this book made me almost cry for more than one time, today in class i was starting to tear me... cant wait to read empire of storms

I don’t know where to start with this. By far this was one of my most anticipated books of 2015. To be honest, this series has become one of my favourite series of all time. I just truly love Sarah J Maas’ style of writing – it is magically delicious. She keeps you on edge, tug at your heartstrings, and render you completely speechless at times. And at the end of her book she leaves you drooling for more.

Okay. I just finished the book and I have so many feelings, that I don't know were should I start first. The reason why I read this book so 'late' was because I couldn't do it. I know it sounds stupid, but in September I had to put it down because I was so angry. I was so angry at everyone- especially Aelin. I just couldn't believe her transformation. It looked like Celaena and Aelin were two different persons. So after Christmas I finally decided that I need to read this book. And I did. And ye Okay. I just finished the book and I have so many feelings, that I don't know were should I start first. The reason why I read this book so 'late' was because I couldn't do it. I know it sounds stupid, but in September I had to put it down because I was so angry. I was so angry at everyone- especially Aelin. I just couldn't believe her transformation. It looked like Celaena and Aelin were two different persons. So after Christmas I finally decided that I need to read this book. And I did. And yes, I loved it. But there is one problem.

I guess the first part of this book was the worst. All this time I shipped Chaolaena sooo bad, that I couldn't believe my eyes when there was nothing between them. What about things that happened in CoM? I know that she is still angry at Chaol because of what happened to Nehemia, but she loved him, and now there is nothing. Aghhh. I was angry and still am. Aelin blamed Chaol for everything. Seriously? But I still ship them. I don't care about Nesryn (well, she is nice) but I don't know her very well, I don't know her past, and still I don't know what I feel about her.
Rowan, ah, Rowan. So here's the thing. I didn't like him in HoF. He was a douche, and his handsome face or his beautiful body didn't change anything. I liked him a little bit more in QoS, but still, somehow he is not Chaol, and everything what happened between Rowan and Aelin seemed too fast for me. Okay, maybe I'm out of my mind, I just think I need more time to figure out how I feel about him.
Aedion. The rescuing scene was intense and amazing. I liked the bond between him and Aelin (I wish I had a cousin like him). But I want to talk about Lysandria and how amazing she is. I believe she is one of my favorite characters. She is badass and loyal and a strong woman. Like Manon. Holy moly. I didn't really like her at first, but now I understand her, and she is amazing. And oh, that scene with Aelin was definitely one of my favorite.
Dorian, my poor Dorian. I'm sooo happy that he is alive, and now he is himself. Now he is the king. I have so many thoughts and feelings, but the ending was the best. The best. Okay, I don't know what I should say more. I liked this book a lot. I rated this 4/5 because, well I think it's obvious. ...more

After so thoroughly enjoying the third book in this series, I was excited to finally catch up with a series I'd heard so much about for so long. The several reviews I'd seen of this one were polarized to the point where it seemed that the reviewer either found it to be one of the best or worst books they'd ever read. I decided to go into it with an open mind, though, and I was looking forward to seeing where my opinion fell. Queen of Shadows is bulky and covers a massive amount of events and vie After so thoroughly enjoying the third book in this series, I was excited to finally catch up with a series I'd heard so much about for so long. The several reviews I'd seen of this one were polarized to the point where it seemed that the reviewer either found it to be one of the best or worst books they'd ever read. I decided to go into it with an open mind, though, and I was looking forward to seeing where my opinion fell. Queen of Shadows is bulky and covers a massive amount of events and viewpoints (and will probably take time to process fully), but my first reaction to it would fall somewhere on the middle of the spectrum. I watched a book review the other day where the reviewer talked about how the author was talented and could write a lot of emotionally moving scenes, but the way in which she wrote her characters and plotlines was sloppy and left a lot to be desired. I feel exactly that way about this book in regards to much of it; Maas is a talented author who can capture emotions, but the way she handled the story and characters seemed to be a downgrade compared to previous books (there was even a damn annoying "instinctual male dominance" theme that I honestly thought Maas was above). The number of characters introduced and more minor characters who became major players was a bit of a double edged sword throughout. Many of the new characters shine, and many are developed female characters who each show their strength in different ways. Older characters who had been mostly on the sidelines (such as Lysandra from the prequels and Manon's Second, Asterin) provide depth and emotion to the story as it moves along. However, this often resulted in most of the original characters being pushed aside. When reading Queen of Shadows (and even Heir of Fire at times), you can't help but get the impression that Maas changed her mind about the nature of the story she wanted to write after the first two books and is attempting to totally switch halfway through the series. While Heir of Fire felt like an expansion of a world that paid respect to its original characters, Queen of Shadows seems to shatter them completely. Dorian, who has one of the most interesting arcs as he struggles with the demon that has possessed him, is mostly limited to one page chapters. Chaol is given hatred for Aelin out of nowhere and Nesryn, while an interesting enough character, is thrown in to aid an underdeveloped love storyline. Aelin completely disregards who she was and most of what she did in the first four books. I loved her acceptance of who she was in Heir of Fire, but to totally leave Celaena behind in this way seems to symbolize what Sarah J. Maas is trying to do with the early part of the series. Overall, I'm glad that I took the time to read this book and I will definitely read the next novel. I just hope that Maas will decide where she stands on where she wants the series to be; the Throne of Glass universe and its characters are unforgettable, and they deserve a steady world written by an author who clearly has lots of talent. ...more
