1/27/23: this was a re-read. I had a jolly good time reading this but I do think it is one of her weaker books in the series. The plot is kind of similar to others she's written. Nothing to special about it. I did like one of the twists at the very end, and the discussions of racism and stereotyping of AAPI cultures in the US.

Tess Gerritsen has always been an author I read straight through. Once I pick up the book, I can't put it down. I prefer her books to the TV series, but I do watch!

From another author, would be highly recommended. Unfortunately, for me anyway, not up to the exceptionally high standards of this series.
Love this series but this one was very slow, missed the mark on this one
Really good. Told from different POV but easy to tell the difference in speakers. Interesting weave of Chinese history/mythology/folklore.
Really enjoyed this, loved learning about Chinese folklore
