I was lucky enough to pick up a signed copy of this book, totally accidental, but it was a great start to a new Tess Gerritsen.
Gerritson is a favorite of mine, I read all her books. First of all though I had some disappointment in the fact the the hard cover sleeve was advertising that the characters in this book are the ones on the tv show. I suppose it's all about advertising but really on a hard cover?

I kept guessing/doubting who the perp was until the end. Thank you Tess Gerritsen!
As usual from a novel by Dr. Gerritsen, I learned a lot of stuff and solidified my hate for cats hahaha.
The only thing that bothered me was how it seemed like Maura and Jane switched personalities a bit there. Also, I could feel a bit of the personalities of the TV series version seeping in to the book version of Jane and Maura which was rather uncomfortable since they are completely different! Excellent, if the ***** didn't already tell you that.
For a while I was wondering how the two strands of this novel (no spoiler alerts necessary) would come together, but was satisfied with the way Tess Gerritsen did it.
I would like to read more about a couple of the new characters in this book, although it is unlikely in both cases (since one of them is, apparently, dead).

I must admit I'm surprised by all the high ratings on this one... I found it mediocre at best, certainly not one of Garritsen's best. The characters weren't very well developed and the ending was totally predictable. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 is that I was interested enough to want to know what happened at the end, but was glad when it was over so I could move on to something better...

Definitely worth the wait, I've been looking forward to this book for a while now, and it did not disappoint. The story is lit between Africa and Boston, and Gerritsen keeps you guessing throughout as to who the killer is. Fantastic read.

Even though I figured it out almost immediately I wasn't 100% sure until the very end. Great read as always.

Quite well written. I found the subject matter disturbing, and the identity of the villain was not evident (but fairly so). Recommended.
And, again, the books so much better than the (otherwise excellent) TV show.
