This was one of my lesser favorite novels by Jodi Picoult. I seem to enjoy her tales when they are told in different voices. This was told by Cassie and Alex but not in the normal manner of Picoult. She even threw in the occasional voice of Will, the half white Lakota Indian.

With so many bad reviews of this book, I feel so pessimistic when I started reading it. But I tried to set aside my judgments and read it anyway.
It's definitely different from other Jodi's books who revolved around court scenes. I must say, the book is like Black and Blue by Ann Quindlen though. But to say I don't like the book is wrong too because I pity Cassie but on the other hand I know what's it's like to fall in love with the beast.

This one fell into my love of Hollywood - it's about an anthropolgist who marries an actor, but there's much more to it than that. I'll leave it to you to find out, but you find out in bits and pieces the background story.
