I believe this is one of those books that is better read. The narrator being Death, himself, was well performed in a drab tone, however, it did little to keep me alert while driving. About two-thirds of the way thru the book, I was about to abandon it when I began to read reviews and decided to give it another try. I began the audio book over again, this time listening at home, and it was wonderful. I found myself completing menial tasks so that I could sit a listen. And yes, I did cry a little ...more

A great tale about a girl, a Jew fist fighter, a warm hearted and yet a German accordionist, some crazy Germans and lot of thieving. Truly an amazing read by an unexpected narrator.
