Pleasant main characters with a strong personality and interesting past. Story written in an intriguing way. Gives you a little idea of what it may have been like to be a black person in America in the 60s. Usually dislike it when words are intentionally miswritten to reflect a character's accent or flawed speech, but in this case it wasn't annoying at all and helped shape the character perfectly.

Wonderful book!!! One of the blurbs stated that it should be read by everyone, like "To Kill A Mockingbird" should be read by everyone. I'm not sure it's that good, but it is a VERY good book!
