At first, this book started out slow and I wasn't at all sure that I wanted to finish it. I really enjoyed this. I cared about the characters and what happened to them, and it made me think. Highly recommended.

A really absorbing story with great characters and certainly a lot to think about regarding civil rights and cultural evolution. I enjoyed this a lot and was eager to keep reading to see what would happen to the three narrators, always a good sign. The ending did feel a little abbreviated and vague to me, but still a very satisfying and worthwhile read.

A nice story not quite as impactful as freedom summer, but ya know, we're living in a recession and want uplifting stories.
