I wanted to like this book so much more than I did, after hearing so many great things about it.
In the end, I did end up liking it more than I did initially, but it is quite insufferable at times.
I understand the desire to write the novel through Jack's perspective as a unique take on the story, to put innocence into it, etc. - but there is a reason that 5 year olds do not typically write novels. Half of what he says gets lost in child babble because things just don't make sense, even if you r ...more

The ongoing talk about 'tooth' ruined it for me. But I'm so glad Jack didn't find it in his poo and then put it back in his mouth or would have really for real vomited.....
