I read this as part of book club I kind of attached myself to. It isn't a book I would normally pick to read on my own. I found that it was a quick read and it kept me interested. I wish that I had had the courage and endurance needed to take a step like that in my past. I have read a lot of reviews saying that the book is overly self indulgent and I am glad I didn't let that stop me from reading it....in my opinion any book written by a person about there own life experiences is going to be sel

I saw the film adaption of Wild the day before I lost my Uncle so I think this book was going to have a place in my heart as it tackles loss and bereavement as subjects. I also began it after finishing an inpatient stay for an eating disorder so felt as though it reflected my own journey.
A wonderfully real tale of self discovery written in such a stark and realistic way. Thoroughly enjoyed and would really recommend. I think it's set to be one of my all time favorites. ...more
