Much funnier than I expected- glad I read it before catching the movie.
Interesting characters, solid writing, and nothing dragged on. The length was about the same as the last book I read, but this one was finished much quicker both due to the writing style (lots of dialogue, happily surprising for a book where the main character was alone for pretty much the entire time!) and my own interest level.

I loved this book. Yes, it took me forever to read, but that's more because I'm easily distracted by other things (my computer/fanfics) and it took some doing to make me actually pick up a hard copy book rather than an audiobook in the car. But I honestly, seriously, adored The Martian.
It's witty and funny, paired perfectly with danger and seriousness. I loved that I could pick out exactly sentences from the movie, that they kept it that close when they made the film.

I liked the plot but there was far too much technical information, I got quite confused! I felt I needed to be a rocket scientist to understand half the stuff.
The book was due back at the library yesterday so I skipped over 50 pages around the 300 page mark rather than renew it...then I decided to renew it. I don't think I missed out on anything by skipping over some pages! ...more
