Very quick read. Started it on audio and was listening on my commute, but a third of the way through, I needed to find out what happened, so I checked out the eBook and sped through it in a couple hours. Can definitely see why it won an Alex Award (since it could appeal to teens and adults easily), and why book clubs love it. My only major complaint is that the ending was a bit abrupt.

I listened to the audiobook. I'm having a hard time with rating this book. I found the audiobook narrator to be infuriatingly annoying, and I'm trying to separate that from my opinion of the actual story. In the end, I guess it was...ok.

Many of the reviews of this book stated that it is "laugh out loud funny." I didn't find this to be the case at all. Much of it was wackiness for the sake of being wacky. It wasn't even what I would consider to be satire. ...more

2016 Reading A book about a trip.

I found this book hard to follow since it's written through emails and letters. It took me a while to get used to the pace. In addition I found the storyline of Bernadette lacking. I was expecting a major reveal of past that would explain her leaving. ...more
