First, did not care for the format. I just don't like jumping accounts. Though it definitely added to the uniqueness of the book, it just didn't do it for me.
Now that's done.
Honestly, I don't blame Carrie one bit. No one in that town cared to check on her at all, knowing full well that her mother was loony. No one. At least the gym teacher, principal, and Sue defended her, but too little too late.

Read this when I was a teen. Love King and remembering loving this one. Never saw any of the movies though.

A masterpiece. Very thought provoking and disturbing. King collages female adolescent vulnerability, religious perversion and white trash rage with such blood splattered intensity. Literally setting fire to all the petty hypocrisy that tortures marginalized youth.
