This book tells the true story of a family, who were near the site of an atomic bomb blast during world war II. The author interviewed the family of a young girl, who developed leukemia when she was ten years old. The book had a greater impact on me, than an over all account of the bombings of Japan. When it is heard as a first person account, it is so heart wrenching. I cried at the end of the book. It is so touching.

A sad but sweet. I have folded many, many paper cranes just like the ones in the story.

A very sad story. So much of emotions going through my mind especially when Sadako found out about her illness until the end. The only thing I didn't like about the book was that it was too short.
