I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book, in all truth, as some said it was dry. But I did like it, and found it quiet humorous. I thought the ending was sweet.

Brilliant and absurd! Fielding clearly was ahead of his time. This book was a tragic comedy if there ever was one. I am sure that when it was published in 1749 it offended the most respectable of households. I absolutely adored his language and his characters. There was a point around page 550 though that I did start to get impatient for Mr. Jones' arrival in London, granted I had read nearly 300 pages regarding the journey so perhaps that is to be expected? I read this in A'Levels, it's reportedly the first Novel ever written. A very good book, about a Brother and sister practicing Malthusian moral restraint(marry in their thirties, celibate) while they raise the Bastard child of a nobleman and his young eager to learn maid.
