I have been planning to read this for some time, and had it on my Kindle from a “deal” a few years back--so, when the Classics group chose it, I decided the time was right. I find it so hard to write a review about a book that does nothing for me. I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it--it is just floating around in la-la land for me.

Reread this book exactly 10 years after reading it for the first time and somehow I loved it even more! The first time I really REALLY liked it but this time around I loved it! It is so freakishly well done and it ACTUALLY MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD IN REAL LIFE. I loved the dramatic satirical bits. They were so over the top that it added to the fun of the book. Our young protagonist Flora Poste is a character we can all learn a lot from, I for one definitely take inspiration from her assertiveness

Hilarious. This novel gives D.H.Lawrence what he deserves: advice about hygiene and a good laugh.
