Sorry, that was painful. The concepts of the ringworld were interesting, but everything else was blah.
The characters were terrible. They are flat and one-dimensional, if that. They have no personalities. The aliens are all so weird, it’s impossible to imagine them. Our human male main character just goes along, waiting for stuff to happen to him. When it’s convenient for the plot, he suddenly comes up with the idea to fix something or solve a mystery.
