A Victorian novel that brilliantly critiques the British social structures of the time. What’s not to love? Elizabeth Gaskell ranks just behind Jane Austen as one of my all-time favorite authors. She writes with absolute mastery of language and literary elements, while maintaining high readability and entertainment value. An absolutely delightful and thought-provoking read!
