The Secret Garden ist eigentlich ein Kinderbuch, aber ich finde, man kann es in jedem Alter lesen. Mary ist ein verwöhntes Mädchen, das in Indien aufwächst, ihre Eltern sind zu beschäftigt, um Zeit mit ihr zu verbringen, und so wird ihr von den Dienern alles zu Füssen gelegt, bis eine Cholera-Epidemie hereinbricht, und ihre Eltern sterben.

Sie wird nach England geschickt, der Heimat ihrer Eltern, die ihr fremd ist, wo sie bei ihrem Onkel in einem abgelegenen Haus im Moor leben soll. Anfangs sehr ...more
