Trigger Warning: Molestation, Child Rape
I had so many questions after reading this novella:
-Was the Governess mad?
-Were the ghosts real?
-Both?
-Did Flora ever see them? Or pretend to? Did the Governess image that too?
A tad on the wordy side, The Turn of the Screw was overwritten for my tastes, but then Gothic lit has never been my favorite genre. Perhaps because I haven't read enough of it. I did enjoy the overall story. There was quite a bit of mystery and the idea of these ghosts haunting child ...more

In an October 29, 2012 article entitled "Ever Scarier: On 'The Turn of the Screw' " in The New Yorker magazine, Brad Leithauser wrote: "The language is extremely dense... and though the book runs only some hundred pages,... it feels longer than it is.". Can I get an Amen?!
