I watched my lazy dogs move from sunbeam to sunbeam as I read about Buck this morning. They are settled house pets, who still have knock down, drag out fights with each other over small infractions of rules that I can't understand. The smarter, more eager to please brother, constantly corrects the other one, trying to make him comply with our instructions. Like White Fang, there is much allegorical material here. However, I was not moved in the same fashion as I was White Fang. Based on other's reviews I may be a minority.

This book spoke about one's authentic self. To find one's purpose in life. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, to do that oftentimes requires an individual to leave behind everything and start anew. Start with nothing and in the most dire of circumstances is the great refinery of being.
