I find it so difficult to judge a book that I know, in part, does not appeal to me because I was never its intended audience. I don't remember reading this book at the appropriate age (or it didn't leave an impression on me), so I thought I'd tackle it now. It's a short and sweet coming-of-age number. I can see why it's so fondly regarded so I suppose I'm a little bummed I didn't get in on the ground level. Would love to see a 2017 version – it'd be fun to see how Margaret would handle modern issues.
