After so many reviews on this book, how can I do it justice? Well, just give my opinion, I guess. For the story/plotline definitely deserves 5 plus stars. I did have to substract for the way in which it was told, though. I understand that any author creating his own world in the genres of fantasy and scifi must set the stage for his audience. Rob Inglis Audiobooks's 2011:

My favorite part remains the same from The Hobbit -- anytime Rob Inglis sings. Which meant Tom Bombadill's chapter was the one least remembered from my teens, and Rob sang like every thirty seconds which had me gleeing like a child.

If you are skeptical of "reading the book", let me tell you:

These books are worth it.

If you have trouble with Tolkien's heaviness, I'd suggest "keep moving," similar to how one might read Paradise Lost. Let yourself get lost in the story rather than bogged with the details. This is a masterpiece––he lived and breathed these books.

Every few years, I read the series again. I saw the movies and enjoyed them, but the books are so much better. ...more
