I love the Anne of Green Gables books, and I was happy to learn about the Emily books. Anne is still my favorite, but Emily is an interesting character. Emily also looks at the beauty in the world, as well as seeing people in unique ways, for a child. She has keen insights into the various people in her life. Emily comes out with what she thinks, which gets her into trouble many times. Aunt Elizabeth is pretty strict with Emily. Emily has a great need to write, and finds any paper she can write

Another wonderful story from L.M. Montgomery! Young Emily Start finds herself orphaned at a young age and placed into the custody of her mother’s rather snobbish family for upbringing. At first, she resents her circumstances and pines for her old life. But through her love of writing and the processing of her emotions by way of letters to her deceased father, Emily grows to love her new home and even the people therein.
