This was a very large book of poems! "I Saw in Louisiana a Live Oak Growing" is my favorite poem from this book.
I have to say I found "Song of Myself" rather long-winded (sorry to anyone out there who likes that one, just my opinion.) The Civil War poems were just so sad and painful--all the lose and death. I have to say, Whitman really was a fan of long poems and the word "comrade". : ) ...more
