I FINALLY FINALLY have read this book! It's been on my TBR since oh....college! I can understand why it was banned, for it DOES talk very frankly about sex and affairs and nudity and orgasms, and all that sexual stuff; BUT the book is not just something you read for a little thrill, skimming for the 'dirty parts'. #tbrchallenge: read a banned book.
This book has taken me a long time to read and almost halfway through the book to get into it. Simply put, it's the story of how Connie, the rich lady, fell in love with Mellors, the poor gamekeeper, and what comes with that, different ideas, her feelings towards her husband and her life as a lady change, and how it completely changes her views on humanity and the world, and even herself.

Ok, this had to be THE worst classic I have ever read. I would say that the sex scenes were odd, but what they really were is awkward and flat. I mean, the author keeps trying to make the point of how ugly naked people are--especially men. That's not very romantic, and also not very true. If you love someone, you'll find them beautiful.
