Mrs Dalloway came to me with sky-high expectations. I had read and loved A Room of Ones Own and was looking forward to embarking on a new and different journey with Woolf.
I liked this book. There were extracts and passages which I loved, which captured my eye and ear and mind and made me think "Yes! - That's exactly what life is like!" However I didn't love it or come away from it in awe - which was what I was expecting.

WOW.....This was a great read, and far more 'deep' than other books of the time. A social commentary about life, love, London society, and the aftermath of war- including suicide and PTSD. There is SO MUCH to digest with this one, that I feel the need to write a proper essay about the book, and study it, as opposed to a simple book review. Although I was aware of Woolf's train-of-thought writing style, this book was still very jarring at times and it ended up taking me much longer than I had anticipated to finish it - almost twice the time actually! At certain times, I found the writing to be choppy or chaotic and I often had to re-read certain paragraphs or pages.
