What Members Thought
Just because it's one of the most famous novels/authors of all time, doesn't mean that I HAD to enjoy it...but I did. Great yarn, and basically the book that should be listed beside the word 'NOVEL' in the dictionary. So...this book is the DEFINITION of what is meant by 'a novel'. Yup. --Jen from Quebec :0)

This is the 13th book in my #ayearofdickens2021 challenge.
Despite my best efforts, I lost momentum towards the end of the year and therefore will be finishing this Dickens reading project in 2022, hopefully by the end of Feb, but I’ll keep the 2021 hashtag.
Great Expectations has been an interesting reading experience, not least because it is such a beloved favourite of many Dickens readers, it is almost impossible to come to it without “great expectations” of the book itself.

Great Expectations follows the orphan Pip, who lives with his sister, known as Mrs Joe, and her husband Joe. The novel is a classic example of the Bildungsroman, as it really describes Pip's development as a character. Still a kid, he is sent to London to be educated and turned into a true gentleman.
