I loved re-reading this. In some ways it's a whole new book to me. Scrooge's relief is palpable, and Christmas is as it should be! Some surprises--mashed potatoes and gravy. Families gathering around the hearth and passing the "spirits" (not sure why on the latter). ...more

Charles Dickens, of course, is one of the best story-tellers of all time. A Christmas Carol is the story of Ebenezer Scrooge. Of course, many have seen one version of the movie or another and simply write the book off. What a shame! Give it a shot. You will be glad you did.
