Dracula was a bit of a surprise to me. It seemed to have little in common with the old Bela Lugosi film that I remember (albeit not very vividly) from my childhood. I can see why it became a classic and endured over the years, it is sensational and mildly erotic.

Finally, after three attempts, I have finished! My biggest takeaway from this is that this is a classic that has suffered with how widely it has influenced pop culture. Knowing its cult classic significance inevitably spoils most of the big mystery and makes it feel like the build-up to this reveal takes forever. I think it is an enjoyable read, but the writing was extremely repetitive and the pacing for most of the novel was almost as slow as a vampire aging. I think the repetitiveness was mean
