Me gustó mucho el estilo narrativo de la autora. A pesar de que tiene casi 700 páginas no me aburrió en ningún momento y me encontraba deseando desocuparme pronto del trabajo y otras cosas para poder seguir leyendo. A mi parecer un verdadero clásico.

I won’t write a review. Many have done it better than I ever could. However, I’ll simply add that I LOVED this classic novel with greater passion than I disliked Wuthering Heights by her sister. It gave me such insight into how different we all can be coming from the same family.

Shelves: classics, re-read

This is a third re-read for me. I've read this book twice in Czech, once in English and now I've listened to an audiobook. Thandie Newton's magnificent performance did this masterpiece justice. Can't recommend it enough.

There is no happiness like that of being loved by your fellow creatures, and feeling that your presence is an addition to their comfort.

One of the most heartwarming stories I have ever read.

Shelves: audiobooks, psychological-drama, classics, pre-ww1-fiction, gothic-fiction, has-not-aged-well, female-protagonist, books-in-english

Part morality play, part “50 Shades of Gray,” part Cinderella story, part proto-feminist treatise (1 woman= 1 blind crippled man). This book tries to be many things, but succeeds largely only in exposing the biases and idiosyncrasies of the author.
