This was delightful! Sometimes I think I've just aged past enjoying YA, but then something like this will come along. I was thoroughly enchanted and I couldn't wait to find out what happens next. Simon's friends and family are a lot of fun, and his journey was compelling (despite the fact that I'm not too big on coming of age stories).

I might not have picked this up, but it is getting to be fall and I have a few boxes still to check on my 2018 Pop Sugar Reading Challenge including reading a book made into a movie that I've already seen. I enjoyed the movie, so not surprisingly I also liked the book. The emerging relationship between Simon and Blue follows similar paths. Simon's development as a result of his email correspondence made for a highly sympathetic character and it was easy to be immediately invested in his story.

Completely charming. Simon has an intense email relationship with someone he goes to school with (identity unknown to him). The whole story relates to Simon's coming out, and dealing with family and friends while growing up. There are many cool, lovable and imperfect characters, including Simon's parents. I also appreciated how the book makes it clear that coming out can be a big deal, even if you expect everyone to be cool with it.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I totally would. This is definitely going down as a favorite of mine. It is a heartwarming book of adolescence, life, friendships, romance, hardships, and acceptance of self. There's really not many books that I've wanted to read because of the movie adaptation, but I'm pretty certain this movie will do it justice and I'm truly looking forward to it. I pretty much laughed, cried, and smiled through reading this book and it left me feeling so happy in

So freaking adorable. I wish this book had been around when I was in high school. Then again, it couldn’t have been because social media and texting weren’t around then, and they’re perfectly integrated into the story.
Also so much better than the film. The resolution is much more satisfying, and the characters are much better balanced.
