The writing is beautiful, the characters feel real. It is a book you want to take your time with and escape into the beautiful streets of Spain about 75 years ago. This book within a book written about a book is a 4.5 in my books.

This book was recommended to me a few years ago and I have finally gotten around to reading it. I really enjoyed the gothic style of the storytelling and the slow, intimate manner in which the characters were drawn. It's the first in a trilogy that I am excited to continue. ...more
