Something is quite off for me about this book :(
I expected something else, I guess, that's why this didn't really live up to my expectation. It's interesting, combining cafe culture in Japan with time travels and all the regrets in life. It also showed that most of the time, the things that made the characters regretful are about communications (or the lack of it). They didn't say sorry, or didn't express their love, or simply can't say that they understand.

Listened to the audiobook. Japanese stories just hit differently than American and British ones, which is mostly what I read. This is a beautiful, lovely little weaving of the stories of visitors to a coffee shop that allows time travel. The opening story made me think I was going to roll my eyes at a whole book of going to the past to save a lost love, but this was not that. Like reading a meditative poem.
I feel like I was missing something while reading this book, maybe because the culture is so foreign to me some of the characters actions seem inexplicable, or maybe the translation doesn’t do it justice. But I also can’t stop thinking about this book.
